2019 Master Gardener Intern Classes @ Sandoval County Administration Building
Feb 12 @ 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Classes will be held in the Sandoval County Administration Building, 1500 Idalia RD, Bld D, Bernalillo, NM 87004, Commissioner’s Chambers 3rd floor room 3001, EXCEPT for February 26, March 26, and April 23 when they will be held in the HR Training room on the 2nd floor room 2047.

Pre-class interaction is from 12:30 to 1:00, classes start at 1:00.

The first class/orientation is on Tuesday, January 15 from 1:00 to 4:30 PM. Start getting your continuing education hours early by attending training classes.

All veterans are welcome, but space is limited when we use the training room, so please come early on those dates.

Growing Orchids @ Meadowlark Senior Center
Feb 12 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

This presentation will give information about how to successfully grow orchids and, more importantly, how to make them re-bloom. We will discuss the correct amounts and timing of light and moisture needed.

Presented by Diane Scott Boles, Sandoval County Master Gardener, as part of Gardening with the Masters series.

Meetings will be held at the Health Commons Building B at the County Administration Offices.

Members are always welcome to attend board meetings.

Health Commons Demonstration @ Sandoval County Administration Building
Feb 28 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm

This meeting will be held in the Health Commons conference room.

The discussion will include the garden plan, plant selection for pollinators and vegetables, materials needed to build the structure, and dates to hold workshops for construction of the raised beds, keyhole & waffle gardens.

Contribute your imagination, building and gardening skills to this exciting project. All are welcome from beginners to skilled Master Gardeners.

How to Overcome the Challenge of Growing Tomatoes in Sandoval County @ Meadowlark Senior Center

Heat, wind, and disease bearing insects are some of the major challenges faced by tomato growers in Sandoval County. Discover ways to minimize their impact by selecting the best varieties of tomatoes to grow here and using row cover and shade cloth.

Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop @ NMSU Alcade Center
Mar 8 @ 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm

The annual fruit tree pruning workshop will cover most temperature fruit tree species like apple, peach, cherry, pear, plum, and apricot. We also cover blackberries and raspberries. We will have an indoor presentation first and then divide the group to different hands-on sessions and rotate sessions later. The event is limited to 40 participants.
