Waterwise Garden work sessions @ Rio Rancho Waterwise Demonstration Garden

This volunteer opportunity is open to all Master Gardeners and Interns. Volunteers maintain garden by planting, raking, pruning, weeding, providing tours, etc.

The Rio Rancho Waterwise Demonstration Garden is between the Esther Bone Library and the Post Office.

Growing and Maintaining Succulents @ Meadowlark Senior Center

All cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti! Come learn about the difference, along with the requirements for, and the challenges of, growing these plants. Also included: fun facts and a high level review of types of succulents and why they are popular.

Holiday Plants: History and Fun Facts @ Meadowlark Senior Center

We encourage our new interns and their mentors to attend this meet and greet session to start off the new training session learning more about each other.

Intern Training – Welcome and Orientation @ Sandoval County Administration Building D
Jan 14 @ 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Classes will be held in the Sandoval County Administration Building, 1500 Idalia RD, Bld D, Bernalillo, NM 87004, Commissioner’s Chambers 3rd floor room 3001, EXCEPT for January 28, February 25, and March 31 and April 28 when they will be held in the Transportation Building.

Pre-class interaction is from 12:30 to 1:00, classes start at 1:00.

The first class/orientation is on Tuesday, January 14 from 1:00 to 4:30 PM. Lynda Garvin, AG/Horticulture Agent Sandoval County, NMSU will lead this class.

Start getting your continuing education hours early by attending training classes. All veterans are welcome, but space is limited when we use the Transportation Building, so please come early on those dates.

Irrigation Issues for Home Gardeners @ Meadowlark Senior Center

This presentation will cover the nuts and bolts of irrigation for the home gardener. We will discuss a variety of methods, problems and solutions relevant to home gardening in Sandoval County.
