Located at the Esther Bone Library
950 Pinetree Road SE Rio Rancho
Project Description: The seed library freely distributes vegetable, herb and flower seeds to the public. We are working to preserve the area’s agricultural heritage by promoting the use of regionally adapted seed, building genetic diversity and strengthening food security through education and a culture of sharing. The available seeds come from local master gardeners and farmers in Sandoval County as well as through seed exchanges with neighboring pueblos. More information may be found on our website sandovalcountyseedlibrary.org.
Sandoval County Master Gardeners offer classes at Esther Bone Library focused on growing vegetables, growing from seed, and saving seeds. Classes are held Saturday mornings, check the calendar for topics and dates.
Volunteers: There are a variety of volunteer activities required by this project: monitoring and restocking the library, cleaning and packaging seeds, communicating with the public and media, correspondence, coordinating volunteers and developing classes for the public. Members of the public as well as Sandoval County Master Gardeners are welcome to volunteer for this project.
Project meeting times: Scheduled by the co-chairs as needed.
